Twickenham Guide | Eating in Twickenham | Drinking in Twickenham

My pick of the 35 or so pubs and bars in Twickenham (updated March 2008):

The Eel Pie - 9, Church Street, Tel: 020 8891 1717
Many years ago this pub used to sell Tanglefoot and the late Hard Tackle from the great Badger Brewery. They were the two best pints I've ever had the pleasure to imbibe. Sadly, the beer now isn't what it was, although it's still pretty good. Nice, quiet pub in a good location.

The Fox - 39, Church Street, Tel: 020 8892 1535
Like the Eel Pie, located in the best street in Twickenham. A nice garden and covered alleyway for smokers. They also sell Twickenham Ale here - a good pint. Frequently has live music. Useful function room over the pub can be hired out for private parties.

The Old Anchor - 71, Richmond Road, Tel: 020 8892 2181
Deserves a mention for the positive feedback it gets. Built a reputation a few years ago (after the refubishment) for doing good food.

The Prince Blucher - 124, The Green, Tel: 020 8894 1824
Traditional pub at the 'Nam end of Twickenham. Has been a feature and a landmark for many, many years. Strong rugby connections.

The Twickenham Tup - 13, Richmond Road, Tel: 020 8891 1863
Lively place on a Friday night and largely trouble-free. Avoid the draught at all costs.

The White Swan - Riverside, Tel: 020 8892 2166
Lovely old pub in a stunning location by the river. Won the 'best pub in London award' a few years back. A classic summer river pub. Cosy in the winter with open fires. No games machines. Thick with locals. Sells Twickenham Ale. Probably the best pub in the area.
